SpeakOver Privacy Policy

SpeakOver is an app for Mac and Windows made by METKO LABS BILISIM ITHALAT VE IHRACAT TICARET LIMITED SIRKETI ("we", "us"), Akıncılar Mah. Kahramanlar Sk. No:10/308, 35750 Ödemiş, İzmir, Türkiye, https://metkolabs.com. Contact: support@getspeakover.com.
The short version
- SpeakOver runs on your computer. **We have no servers that receive your voice, video, transcripts,
translations or API keys.** We never see them.
- To translate, the app sends your speech and text **directly from your computer to the AI services you
connect with your own API keys** (for example Deepgram and OpenRouter), under those services' own terms and privacy policies.
- When you buy or activate a license, Lemon Squeezy (our reseller and merchant of record)
processes your purchase and checks your license key.
- The app has no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Our website uses Google Analytics, only with your
consent in the EU, UK, Switzerland and Türkiye (see section 4).
1. What stays on your computer
SpeakOver works with the following data on your computer only:

Your original voice is never sent to the stream or saved in a recording, unless you turn on "My own voice" for a moment.
2. Services you connect with your own keys
You create accounts with these services and enter your own API keys. SpeakOver sends data directly from your computer to them; we are not a party to that exchange, and their terms and privacy policies apply. Check them before use.

Your glossary and the previous few sentences are sent with each translation request so names and terms stay consistent.
3. Buying and activating a license
Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy (https://www.lemonsqueezy.com), which acts as the merchant of record and collects your name, email address, billing details and payment information under its own privacy policy. We receive order details from Lemon Squeezy (such as your name, email address, country and what you bought) to provide the license, support and for our tax and accounting duties.
When you activate, check or release a license, the app sends your license key and your computer's name (to label the activation in your account) to Lemon Squeezy. Lemon Squeezy also sees your IP address. The app checks the license when it starts; it works offline for up to 14 days after the last check.
The free version needs no license and sends nothing to Lemon Squeezy.
4. Our website (getspeakover.com)
When you visit getspeakover.com, we use Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC) to see how many people visit, which pages they read, which country and kind of device they come from, and which links brought them. Google Analytics uses cookies and receives your IP address, which it doesn't store; we only see statistics, not who you are. We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't link this data to your license or to anything in the app.
- In the EU/EEA, the UK, Switzerland and Türkiye analytics only starts after you click Accept on
the cookie banner. If you click Decline, no analytics cookies are set.
- Elsewhere analytics runs when you open the site; you can turn it off with Cookie settings at the
bottom of every page, or with Google's opt-out add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).
- Your choice is saved in your browser (local storage) so the banner doesn't come back on every visit.
- Google Analytics keeps the statistics for up to 14 months. Data may be processed by Google in the United
States; Google uses the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework for this. Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
The website has no other trackers. Our web host processes your IP address in its server logs to deliver and protect the site.
5. What we don't do
- No analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking in the app.
- We don't sell or share your data.
- We don't train AI models on your data. (The services you connect have their own policies on this;
some, like OpenRouter, let you choose providers that don't keep or train on data.)
6. Legal bases (EU / UK / Turkey)
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR or Turkey's KVKK apply, we process the order details we receive from Lemon Squeezy to perform our contract with you (the license) and to meet legal obligations (tax, accounting). Website analytics is based on your consent in the EU/EEA, UK, Switzerland and Türkiye, and on our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used elsewhere. Everything in sections 1 and 2 happens on your device or between your device and services you chose, under your control.
7. How long we keep data
We keep order details for as long as your license is active and afterwards as long as tax and accounting laws require (10 years under Turkish commercial law). Website statistics are kept in Google Analytics for up to 14 months. We hold no other data about you.
8. Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it (unless the law requires us to keep it), and you can object to its use. Write to support@getspeakover.com. You can also complain to your data protection authority. For data held by Deepgram, OpenRouter, Anthropic, ElevenLabs, Lemon Squeezy or a streaming platform, contact that company.
To delete everything SpeakOver keeps on your computer: delete the app and its recordings and logs folders (above), and the "SpeakOver" item in Keychain Access (Mac) or Credential Manager (Windows).
9. Children
SpeakOver is not meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly receive data from them.
10. Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app or by email.
